Let’s talk coffee! Since I’ve been having such a strong Starbucks addiction lately, I figured I would share my thoughts on the few holiday drinks I’ve sampled over the past few weeks. Now, anyone that likes Starbucks knows that the holiday season doesn’t officially begin until the limited edition holiday drinks are released. That’s just how it works. I feel like Starbucks does an amazing job at selecting flavor combos for their holiday drinks, they fit the season so well and taste just like Christmas. Christmas in a cup that is. I will admit, I tend to go more for the frappuccinos than lattes, but you really can’t go wrong with either. Here is their official lineup.
First off, I’ll start with my favorite – the Caramel Brulée frappuccino. This was my favorite drink last winter, and it’s my favorite again this year. It has such a rich, caramel flavor and I love the little caramel crunchy bits sprinkled on top of the whipped cream. I love the plain caramel frappe, and the Caramel Waffle Cone summer edition frappe, but this is my favorite twist on a caramel frappuccino. Just so good.
Next up, my close second favorite – the Chestnut Praline frappuccino. This has such a delicious chestnut flavor and reminds me so much of that lyric “chestnuts roasting on an open fire”. That along with it’s subtle sweet blend of spices makes it a perfect holiday drink. I’ve actually tried this as a latte as well, though by mistake. I’d ordered it in a frappuccino, but they mixed up and still gave me the latte for free! Nothing like a free Starbucks coffee. I still prefer frappuccinos, but this latte was nothing short of delicious and I would order it again.
I had tried the Peppermint Mocha frappuccino last Christmas season, but not so far this year. It was a good drink, but I just am not a huge fan of chocolate and peppermint together. However, a few weeks ago while I was shopping at Meijer, a barista from the Starbucks was passing out samples of the Peppermint Cream frappuccino and I loved it! It was the perfect mix of vanilla and sweet peppermint and I ended up ordering that in a larger version a few days ago. It’s basically a vanilla frappuccino, but with peppermint syrup.
I haven’t yet tried the Caramel Brulée or Peppermint Mocha as lattes yet, though I’m hoping too before they go out of season. I really love Starbucks, and their drinks never fail to amaze my taste buds with every sip. I just wish they weren’t so expensive.
Remember, today is the last day of their Share the Spirit promotion where you get a holiday drink free (hot or cold) when you buy one. It’s only from 2 – 5 p.m. and today is the last day so hurry up and go grab yours!
Hope you all had a great weekend!
