It seems as though winter has finally come to Wisconsin! The last few days we’ve had a sudden snap of extreme cold and wind. We’d had a few inches of snow about a week ago which has since melted. but we are supposed to get some more throughout the weekend. After an unseasonably warm fall, it really is feeling like Christmastime over here!
I wanted to give a little tour of the Christmas decor around my house. Yes, I still live with my parents so technically it’s my mom’s Christmas decorating. I love when she gets the Christmas bins out at the end of November because our whole house becomes a holiday wonderland. My mom love love loves Christmas and ever since I was little, she has decorated the house much the same way. Obviously throughout the years she has continued to accumulate more, but we always had a fully decked out house around the holidays. Some people may think it’s too much, but to me and our family it’s absolutely perfect. Especially since 75% of the decorations are things my mom has handmade. She knows how to crochet, knit, sew, macrame, string bead banners…you name it, she can probably do it. Perhaps that is why our home feels so magical at this time of year. Now, the only thing that hasn’t been finished yet is the tree. We still have a few boxes of ornaments to hang so hopefully we’ll wrap that up this weekend.
My mom and I are doing a lot of holiday baking today to get ready for the church bake sale tomorrow. We’re making breads, cookies and a few other items and it’s so fun milling about the kitchen to Christmas music and filling the house with the smell of cinnamon, pumpkin and gingerbread. Tis the season!
We are planning to gather everyone together after my sister and her husband arrive next weekend to make and decorate Christmas cookies and I can’t wait. I get so excited pulling out all the sprinkles and frosting, makes me feel just like a little kid again. I really can’t wait until I can do all of this with my babies someday!
Happy Friday & Have a great weekend!! xoxo
